Hello 2015 + Happy Australia Day

Australia Day means lots of different things. However, for our family this day always centred around Nonna Giovanna's birthday, January 25th. Sunday would have been her 94th birthday.

To celebrate and remember her, for an Australia Day BBQ yesterday, we made one of her favourite dishes - Melanzane. It is a delicious combination of fried eggplant, Napoli sauce, basil and Parmesan cheese in layers, similar to a lasagna.

Here I am (Jac), learning the ropes a few years ago. Note the intense look of concentration.

And here's the finished product! Which was happily devoured by a group of young friends
